Pros

Five years ago, I joined Sound without any experience in Healthcare. Today, I cannot imagine leaving as I have found a home and a job that I truly love. The work/life balance is amazing and the flexibility to those who moved to a remote opportunity due to COVID has been life-changing. The Westlake office has a great work culture and when my son was born prematurely, the office came together to donate over 100 hours of PTO so that I could be with him in the hospital. There is a strong sense of support and care among colleagues and our department has a high retention rate with 90% of the staff having more than 5 years of experience at Sound! I think this speaks volumes of our director. Resources other companies don’t have: Sound Strong has donated funds to me twice to cover medical bills for my son's NICU stay, and my daughter's hospitalization due to RSV. These donations were greatly helpful during difficult times. Sound also provides excellent resources for leaders to grow and develop their skills.

Cons

With new leadership comes changes, and we are currently experiencing some challenges. I am dealing with burnout due to year-end tasks, goal deadlines, and an increased workload, all while juggling more meeting requests, and the recent lay-offs impacting our whole office. I am hopeful that these issues will resolve soon and normalcy will return. While tenure in the department is valuable, limited promotion opportunities exist without any open positions. I then must choose between staying with merit increases or seeking better compensation elsewhere. Additionally, the elimination of bonuses next year makes it difficult to motivate teams to excel, considering merit increases barely cover the cost of living. Lastly, even though we're supposed to work together as colleagues, sometimes the clinical side can be very unprofessional and berating to business colleagues. This poor treatment can really be upsetting and demeaning.
