Pros

Great overall culture Flexibility when needed Awesome personal support system on the Westlake team A Pro and Con is software and technology are always changing - if it's working and cost-effective, it doesn't always have to be "fixed"

Cons

Workloads can be daunting No paid paternity leave for business colleagues, only clinical Mismanaged communication for changes with business colleagues With any healthcare company, the clinician side is always heavily favored for business processes (QGenda for example) I've experienced that any promotions or market pay increases received if 1) had another job offer or was about to leave 2) out of necessity as someone quit or moved on and taking on their duties

Pros

Five years ago, I joined Sound without any experience in Healthcare. Today, I cannot imagine leaving as I have found a home and a job that I truly love. The work/life balance is amazing and the flexibility to those who moved to a remote opportunity due to COVID has been life-changing. The Westlake office has a great work culture and when my son was born prematurely, the office came together to donate over 100 hours of PTO so that I could be with him in the hospital. There is a strong sense of support and care among colleagues and our department has a high retention rate with 90% of the staff having more than 5 years of experience at Sound! I think this speaks volumes of our director. Resources other companies don’t have: Sound Strong has donated funds to me twice to cover medical bills for my son's NICU stay, and my daughter's hospitalization due to RSV. These donations were greatly helpful during difficult times. Sound also provides excellent resources for leaders to grow and develop their skills.

Cons

With new leadership comes changes, and we are currently experiencing some challenges. I am dealing with burnout due to year-end tasks, goal deadlines, and an increased workload, all while juggling more meeting requests, and the recent lay-offs impacting our whole office. I am hopeful that these issues will resolve soon and normalcy will return. While tenure in the department is valuable, limited promotion opportunities exist without any open positions. I then must choose between staying with merit increases or seeking better compensation elsewhere. Additionally, the elimination of bonuses next year makes it difficult to motivate teams to excel, considering merit increases barely cover the cost of living. Lastly, even though we're supposed to work together as colleagues, sometimes the clinical side can be very unprofessional and berating to business colleagues. This poor treatment can really be upsetting and demeaning.

Pros

Salary is appealing but NOT worth it

Cons

1. PAs see 13-15 patients per shift, it is not safe and leaves you absolutely exhausted 2. No matter how long you’ve been a PA your starting salary is the same as a new grad 3. No annual raises 4. NO PTO. I missed a week of work for health reasons and didn’t get paid. NOT OK. 5. Local sites are so far removed from the larger organization it’s isolating 6. Local site management has very little training on how to lead teams. For example: no scheduled reviews to check in about reaching goals or expectations. Zero positive reinforcement. If you make a mistake, you will then be micromanaged until they forget about you. 7. The company applauds and rewards providers who do ACP conversations. A few employees figured out that everyone they do these they earn an extra $13-$14. Some people do them when, in my opinion, they are not appropriate & frankly uncomfortable for patients in order to earn money (and the company at large is unintentionally reinforcing this). Borderline unethical. 8. Sign on bonus’ are handed out on a whim, one PA will get half what another got in matter of weeks. 9. Some contracts are two years and some are three. NO standardization and inequality between people with the same job.
