Pros

Sound Physicians as a whole is a well-respected organization. They offer great tools, resources, and a national infrastructure that supports quality care and professional growth. The company’s mission and values are strong, and when you work directly with Sound’s core programs, you can really see their commitment to clinical excellence and innovation.

Cons

Unfortunately, Southwest Pulmonary does not reflect the Sound Physicians standard. The practice operates like a small private group with outdated processes and a lack of accountability. Management is disorganized, single-minded, and fails to apply standards fairly across staff. There’s a clear favoritism culture and minimal support for collaboration or staff development. The Systems Director of Operations is at the center of many of these issues—lacking leadership transparency, consistency, and strategic direction. Their decisions often undermine progress, create unnecessary tension, and prevent the team from moving forward effectively.

People are nice but company doesn't take care of their employees

Pros

Mission driven and a commitment to addressing disparity in healthcare. People are nice

Cons

Benefits are eye wateringly expensive. Compensation is below industry average. There has been minimal changes but the quality and cost is not feasible. Especially coming from a healthcare company. Also there is a severe lack of communication between departments (specifically HR) that requires multiple outreach with minimal chance of getting HR specific questions answered. Just not a great place to work.

Thank you for your time with Sound. We're proud to be a purpose-driven organization, and we do our best to serve from our values in every aspect of care, whether for patients or our own colleagues. So we're disappointed to hear your experience was one that felt at odds with that. This year, we made updates to our benefits package, reflective of feedback from our colleagues around cost and coverage. And we continuously evaluate our compensation to remain competitive in the market and pay our people fairly. Still, we hear you. Would you consider providing more insight on how we might improve? Please reach out to belong@soundphysicians.com. We hope to chat soon!
