Pros

Job Security, you don't have to travel much. Good work-life balance. Good work mates. There is alot of nepotism among utilities. Meaning that once you worked for one utility it is very easy to go and find a home in another utility. This is a great company to work for if you have a family and you place a high priority on family time.

Cons

It's borring. Things move at a glacial speed. Management is very ego-centric, meaning that they'll ignore most of what underlings have to say. We're definitely not in the leading edge. If you really love technology and where it is going, this is not the place to come.

Pros

Once you get a job here, you could potentially stay here for the rest of your life, regardless of how well you perform. It is basically like working for the government or a monopoly. So if you want a cush job, this could be it. The benefits are probably above market.

Cons

Where do I start? The beaucracy is stifling. You will run into colleagues on a daily basis who are just there to punch a clock. Most employees are mediocre and unmotivated. There is a ton of dead weight. Literally there are people who sit around and surf the net and goof off all day. This could explain our high electricity bills. The jobs are boring. The industry is boring. All of this is because it is a monopoly and a quasi-governmental entity. If you want excitement in your job, avoid this place. It will suck the life out of you. Once you work here for a few yrs, you could be stuck here and be pigeonholed. The pay is below market. And Rosemead is not the best play to work.

Pros

Competetive Salary; wide variety of job opportunities; jobs are relatively secure. Edison offers the freedom and autonomy for motivated employees acheive their assigned goals using whatever tactics they see fit.

Cons

Regulated, beauracratic environment, diminishing healthcare & retirement benefits, stingy with resources necessary for job responsabilities. New systems being developed to improve control feel more like micromanagement.
