Pros

very good company to start if you are in the energy analyst program. the market analyst rotation program needs work.

Cons

too many temps, need to hire more talented individuals. must develop more analyst rotation programs to inspire fresh grads to work there.

Pros

SCE has continually proven to be a very stable place to work. The current economic downturn is the third I've experienced since joining the company in the 1980s. Although there have been times where raises were small or non-existent, my job has always been secure. Management tends to be very conservative, but that is expected at a utility. Compared to what I've seen at other companies, SCE management is slightly above average in its treatment of employees.

Cons

There are some serious issues with the ethics displayed by some senior managers. I've seen senior managers in IT who brought in cronies from former jobs who were seriously incapable of handling the jobs they were handed at SCE. I've seen people promoted on the basis of belonging to the same social circles as senior management who have proven to be less than capable of handling their assignments. I've seen major contracts signed after a weekend of wining and dining, without any thought or process on how to make things happen properly.
