Pros
Southern Company is really a great company to work for. They truly care about their employees and the "southern style" is second to none. There are opportunities to learn various skills and they do what they can to create a work life balance. I didn't experience any micromanagement & basically had to fire yourself. Although the pay isn't that high compared to the industry, the perks and benefits are great! The company also encourages community involvement. This was probably the best place I ever worked.
Cons
Although Southern Company is a warm and caring environment, some if it's philosophies and developmental practices can be antiqued. It is definitely the "good ole boys" network. If you want to advance you have to make sure the right people like you. I left because I was stuck in my last role and was not able to move into a position of my choosing due to upper management blocking me or wanting to control where I go.
