Pros

Coworkers are very friendly and easy to work with.

Cons

You are underpaid for the amount of work you have to do. Also, contractors are not treated well. You do not have real benefits or say in anything that happens in the department until you become full-time.

Pros

Usually work doesn't follow you home unless there is a storm or sometype of emergency coverage. You can learn to be patient, endure tough environments, be resilient, and maintain a positive and thankful attitude.

Cons

Work culture, management, terrible and prolonged training for people new to the industry - they were not prepared to train, and then you are penalized/suffered because of that. Everything is about the optics to management. There is no morale - management consistently makes decision that drains or impacts morale negatively.

Pros

Southern Company offers strong work-life balance and stability, which is great for long-term career growth as an Application Developer. The company invests in modern technologies like cloud platforms and mobile development, and there’s good support from leadership and cross-functional teams. The benefits package is solid (including retirement and PTO), and the overall culture is collaborative and low-stress compared to many tech companies.

Cons

The pace of development can be slower due to legacy systems and strict processes, which may limit opportunities to work on cutting-edge features.
