One of the bigger downsides to the farm, is people don't like to leave. This means that if you want to manage people, you are really going to have to dig in hard and set yourself apart from others. However, if you are not interested in managing, this should not be a big deal.
Another downside is that this is a very conservative company, and they do not move fast on change. They just implemented what is called "Farm Fridays" which is where you can wear bluejeans with an approved shirt (kind of like casual Friday). This is great! But other companies have been doing this for years. Again, the farm doesn't move fast on change; however, there has been a big push on what the younger generation wants from their workplace, so their is hope.
LOMA is both a strength and a weakness. I personally believe learning about the company's line of work is important, but at what point does it overshadow a person's job? For example, in Application's Development, is it more important to be certified in retirement securities or more important for me to be certified in my line of work?
