Pros

A great culture with lots of opportunities to learn and grow. A very friendly atmosphere and a very stable and growing company.

Cons

Processes can be slow, raises and promotions are hard to come by, happening only on certain moments, profits participation could be a little better.

Thank you for your message. I appreciate your call out about our culture and opportunities for growth. We are committed to creating an environment where talented, career-minded people can grow, and to both supporting and celebrating success, so it’s great to know that this is your experience at Sovos. By that same note, it sounds as though you have ideas on ways we could improve further. I’d strongly encourage you to “Be Proactive” and connect with your manager to provide your insight on how we could improve both processes, as well as ensure you are both aligned on your professional growth plan. Timing is perfect as we are starting a new Fiscal Year and planning on improvements for associates. As you mentioned, we are a growing company, which means opportunities for continued evolution and process improvement. Thank you again for your feedback, and glad to have you part of the team. - Paulo Barbieri, VP Product Development

Pros

Flexibility with working from home.

Cons

The turnover rate is incredibly high in this role, and management doesn't seem to do anything about it, no matter how much you voice your concerns. Because of this, lots of unnecessary errors are made on clients' behalf, and more "experienced" associates are left to clean up the mess. Be prepared to have little work-life balance; in January you will be working 70+ hours a week with no extra pay. This role takes advantage of unexperienced workers looking for an entry level position. Supervisors move into their role fast because of the turnover, so some supervisors are no help to new hires, which causes stress on new employees. If you are looking for stability and want to keep your sanity, look elsewhere.

First, thank you for working with us during the January tax season. This is a busy time of the year for Tax Compliance Professionals – much more so than other months. Our customers count on us to Keep Our Promise and meet their needs, and we work hard to meet this commitment. That being said, I am sorry that you felt you did not have a good experience or felt your manager did not care about your concerns. That is not the norm. Our most recent employee engagement survey from Compliance Services in Minneapolis indicated that 3 out of 4 reps agree to the statements “my manager cares about my concerns” and “my manager make it easier to do my job.” . It seems we missed an opportunity here. Regarding newly promoted supervisors, as a company we are committed to creating an environment where talented, inspired and motivated individuals can grow. Part of actioning that commitment is to promote from within when able. If we see the potential, we are willing to provide that opportunity, and provide the right support to ensure our managers can succeed. The people rising to those actions are what makes our company great, and what makes a seasonal busy time of the year worth it. Again, thank you for your time with us and we wish you luck in your next role. - Paul Banker, General Manager

Pros

Used to be the people and depends on group, if you have a good manager and they stay or aren't let go you will be lucky but this is rare. Unlimited time off but no one ever has the ability to actually use it regardless of what anyone tells you.

Cons

Seems like the company is in constant state of re orgs that don't make any sense and affect the entire organization in a negative way. The goal is to keep growing as fast as possible yet they do not take necessary steps to ensure the company and employees are able to keep up - workload is excessive for many groups. Sovos says they care about keeping good people, high performers, good managers but actions indicate the opposite. Best advice - find someone in your network that worked there before and talk to them before you decide to apply.

Let me be absolutely clear: there is nothing more important for Sovos right now than keeping talented, engaged and inspired employees in roles where they can stretch toward their own professional potential, as we all stretch toward our potential as an organization, together. Our ability to keep our promises to customers, to lead in dynamic markets, to enable the people who count on us to improve their way of life – it all depends on Sovos employees around the world. That's the bottom-line. After 5+ years with us, you’ve probably heard me say many times that our mission to Solve Tax for Good is audacious. We are at a particularly critical moment in pursuit of that goal, when we must acquire top technology and talent to meet our customers’ needs everywhere they do business. I believe this moment to be one of exceptional professional opportunity for our team. I also recognize what we are doing is not easy. We expect our team to feel busy and challenged. But no one should stay quiet if they feel overwhelmed. Leaders across the company are here to listen and to help. I appreciate your feedback. I will keep it in mind as we continue to invest in the people, products and practices to support strategic growth while engaging our primary competitive advantage: our people.
