Sales

Pros

Knowledgeable helpful management staff in sales and support. Certain leaders go out of their way to create coachable moments and a fun environment. Some of the products you have the client locked in and can impose mandatory pricing changes with them really having little opportunity to say no. Easy to make your number and it reflects in the leader boards I've seen. Decent products, not cutting edge but proven.

Cons

Constant turnover throughout the organization now. Most of the time they aren't replacing. Key departures of legacy ee's the last two months that took a majority of domain knowledge with them. The pay across the board is lower than market standards. Company philosophy is hire potential and the can grow into the job since they will take the lower pay (and way below average benefits). Many in sales are going to look at what the 2018 fiscal plan is and if the organization doesn't rightsize this year will be seeking employment elsewhere. Lastly not investing in current products but continue to buy other companies. Not a bad model but some of their current cash cows are dangerously close to looking obsolete and while not adding any potential for upsell. Marketing support is almost non existent. Constant turnover in this role and the plans that are in place are mostly just trying to redo something that was done many years ago. This isn't being lazy on their part just newer employees that have been given little training and are stretched really thin.

Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts. Sovos operates in an ever-changing market and we are excited to be a frontrunner in the global compliance industry. We embrace this opportunity by taking on the responsibility of providing useful and cutting-edge solutions to our clients that meet the demands of their business-to-government reporting, tax compliance and market-specific obligations. Sovos recently exemplified this, addressing a sales tax regulatory change by implementing compliance solutions for our clients fewer than 24 hours after the original change announcement. Successfully tackling rapid and ever-changing solutions is possible because of our workplace, which is filled with talented, engaged and inspired people. We are happy you recognize that Sovos has leaders who are great coaches and mentors. We agree that Sovos has terrific people! While it’s never easy to lose teammates, we will continue to embrace our values of accountability and adaptability, allowing our employees to embrace these departures as opportunities for personal growth and positive change. Thank you again for your feedback.

Pros

+ Flexible work schedule + Flexible work environment - could work at home or in office at your descretion + Casual office environment + Managers advocate for staff

Cons

- Office environment was a bit uncomfortable. Temperature, noise levels, cubical space, plus more could have been improved. - Managers were seemingly unqualified. I think the talent had left the building already by the time I started working there, and they decided to fill the void with favorites... painfully obvious most people in authority were not exactly qualified. - Very immature culture. Playing ping-pong seem to come first and no one cared. - Too much entry level talent as a whole. To glorify this issue, opportunities are offered to potential talent (not actual talent) which put the company at risk because of their lack of experience. Experienced staff ended up getting short-changed even though they are the ones who could actually fix all the problems and bring innovative solutions to the table. How unfortunate they are overlooked for advancement because the cost more? I couldn't figure it out... it was immensely disappointing to see the actual talent get routinely overlooked. - There was a lot of juggling on the executive level. How many times a year can a re-org be done? Big picture - never really got a sense of what this company was about. I knew it was tax software with services, but sales people didn't even know what Taxport looked like and customer service reps could barely even load a data file. When you look past the surface culture, if feels like something is fundamentally wrong in this company.
