Thank you for your feedback. I appreciate the flexibility we are able to offer here at Sovos as well, as do many of your peers. We care about our employees’ work-life balance and are committed to providing this support as we continue to grow. As for your comment on compensation, I can assure you we regularly review market rates and continuously evaluate our compensation structures by department to ensure we are remaining competitive and fair in our industry. We believe in a Total Rewards approach where a market comparable base compensation is complimented by other components, too. These include aspects like variable pay, for example our corporate bonus program or uncapped individual commissions plans; your benefits line up, like our flexible time off program and market leading HSA employer contributions; and much more. We implement annual performance reviews for all our staff to connect with their managers and intentionally align on success metrics and improvements needed as a launching pad to longer term career development discussions. I highly recommend you check out our career development page on SharePoint to learn more about how you can grow within your career path at Sovos. Thank you for your feedback as it is extremely valuable to us, my door is always open if you would like to discuss anything further.

Pros

The benefits are decent and you'll find some really great people here, but that is just about it. Granted some departments are better than others.

Cons

Management is a joke. People who advocate for better processes get fired or ignored. They'd instead promote people to management who have a poor attitude, gossip to teams, are so green and don't have enough knowledge of the job, and pass off tasks. Turnover is insane because the training and management are so lacking, and the workload is completely unmanageable, so no one wants to stay here long term - so expect to have several managers in your time here even if it's as short as a year. The amount of stress in TRR specifically you will NOT be compensated for. You're going to work an average of 60-70 hour weeks in a season, and then be passed up for bonuses & promotions, repeatedly. Favorites get recognized, and the rest end up getting pushed out and either transfer or quit. And forget seeing even a little bit of diversity here, they might say they strive for diversity with the added DEI team, but it's not true. In the years I've been here I've rarely seen anyone hired who isn't white and totally conventional.

Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts. I agree, great people work at Sovos. I consider myself fortunate to work alongside so many talented, engaged people. I am sorry to hear that you have had a negative experience with some managers. Career development is incredibly important to our organization and, in managed services specifically, having managers who have done the work themselves and understand the challenges that their frontline employees face is a tremendous asset. I am also sorry to hear you feel you were passed over for bonuses and promotions. In Managed Services, there are multiple opportunities over the course of a year for our employees to receive both merit increases, bonuses, and promotions to acknowledge the work that goes into our busy tax season. I can also assure you that we have never fired anyone for advocating for better processes. To the contrary, I encourage all our employees to proactively advocate for change where they see opportunity for improvement. Our commitment to process improvement is what led us to hiring our first ever Global Leader in Managed Services, who spent time in our Minneapolis office recently listening to the team's feedback and concerns. Finally, to address your comments about diversity, we are still early in our journey (but nearly 2 years since we purposefully chose this path). We have made great strides with our DEI team but agree more work to be done. We know that having a diverse group of employees benefits all our employees, and I am committed to continuing to work with our leaders to impact positive change there. I wish you luck in your future endeavors, and thanks again for the feedback.
