Pros

Health, vision, and dental benefits, 401K retirement, a month worth of classroom training with highly experienced trainers, set schedule, work boots, work clothes, tools and company vehicle were supplied by company.

Cons

One month of classroom training, and two weeks of highly unorganized field training with mentors who really don't want to be mentors is nowhere near enough training for people who have never done work like this (like myself) before. I told my managers from the beginning that I had no experience in this field, they invested a bunch of money in me (and other new hires), and at the end of the two week mentor training, basically said "We don't feel safe with you working out in the field by yourself, so you have until the end of the day to show improvement, or we have to find out what to do with you." Essentially, that translated to "We can fire you, or you can quit." Starting pay for this job (in Southern California) is just north of $18/hr. For how much work most jobs required, and how much danger is involved in this job, starting pay should be no lower than $25/hr.

We appreciate your feedback about the training process. Products and services are frequently updated, and we work hard to provide up-to-date training just as frequently to align with changing requirements and technology. We will share your comments with our leadership team.

Cons

After being promoted to this position, there was very little management interference in my role. There was a lot of autonomy, with minimal office time. 3 years down the line, my position was changed completely. The only reason I liked my job was because of things being the way they were. After the change in management, there was no autonomy. I was confined to office work with the option to work 7-4, 8-5, 9-6. The micromanagement was just flagrant! Upper management preferred quantity over good quality projects! For the most part it was just busy work. As long as you are sitting, meaninglessly in front of a monitor, management seems to be satisfied! Management would assign sidebar projects and instead of paying attention to completion, would send emails reminding people to complete things that were already done! That was a huge point of frustration for me. Despite having the capability to work completely remote during the pandemic, some of us were made to work in the office. The cubicles only provided distancing of about 3.5’! During the pandemic we were required to complete a “know before you go” or daily health check that people blatantly lied on! We had 4 questions to answer as it pertained to temperature, symptoms and possible exposure to COVID-19. Housekeeping only changes trash most Days. Bathrooms appear to be actually cleaned maybe 2 days a week. They only sanitized the building AFTER a confirmed positive case, rather than on a consistent, daily basis!!!!! One day my boss was in his office with very deep, and seemingly productive coughs! Had he answered the daily health check questions honestly, he would have been required to stay home for 14 days and only return before that time if a negative Covid test result was produced. A day later, my coworker was experiencing similar symptoms with an unrelenting runny nose. The next day we found out she tested positive as so did my boss! The day after her positive result, I started experiencing a runny nose after reporting to work. Of course, I tested positive as well! I ended up being a Covid long hauler and while the onset of the virus presented minimal symptoms, about 12 days in I started having an increase in symptoms. I was diagnosed in January and continued to have complication after complication until April, which is when I returned to work! I nearly lost my vision and suffered brain swelling and memory loss. My first few days out I was asked to work while at home with the virus and I refused! I was not going to spend what could have been my last week Alive working for Spectrum! Once I returned to work my boss and other individuals were still presenting with unrelenting bouts of coughing and I was afraid, remembering what I’d been through all this year and so many doctors visits I lost count! I requested to work from home and was put through an unnecessary approval process before being allowed to do so. It took nearly a week. I was almost convinced it wasn’t coming! I was discouraged to disinfect as some people were sensitive to the products but I was only protecting myself from possible reinfection. In the time I’d been forced into 100% office work things just went from bad to worse! I can say if I never saw this place again I wouldn’t be mad at all! I have never experienced anything with the likes of this In my life! I finally found myself in a position where I could resign! These people DO NOT CARE, FROM THE TOP DOWN! This could be a great place to work, but management definitely needs to change!
