Pros

Competitive pay. Experience can be good if you have a good manager and team.

Cons

- Very inflexible: no work from home allowed, even in bad weather with school closures, strict enforcement of dress code (no casual Fridays) - Not supportive of employees. Socially irresponsible. The company's response to the COVID-19 pandemic has been very concerning and frustrating. Just Google "Charter coronavirus employees" to read all the news articles. Charter finally responded to the employees' concerns and news articles when they implemented the additional 15 days of COVID related PTO. They also say they are allowing employees "the option" to work from home if they are able to. In reality, this means they implemented 2 week shifts in the office, despite employees continuing to get sick. VPs and above are told they need to be in the office every day. If you feel uncomfortable coming in during your 2 week shift in the office, you need to use your COVID-19 PTO days to work from home. So in reality, this extra time will only give people until the end of April to work from home. For the employees that have tested positive, people on their floor are told and only the people sent immediately around the person are sent home. Others are told to return to the office unless they are sick. Because of the lag between the time someone is exposed, infected, experiences symptoms (if at all), gets tested (if they are even able to), and gets the results (often 1 week+ later), the quarantine window is usually over. This means it is too late and everyone in the office was exposed during that time. The cycle will continue. Charter is putting its employees, their families, and communities at risk and using their "essential" status and the free internet, etc. as an excuse for these decisions. The only reasoning given is that they think we are more effective in the office even though jobs can be done at home.

Pros

Salary is is competitive for new hires. Everything is in flux which allows even mid-level workers to affect change quickly.

Cons

Dysfunctional and short-sighted executive leadership. Adversarial relationships between verticals. No communicated "vision". Middle management is afraid to say the emperor has no clothes.
