Pros

The customers are very polite and become somewhat of a Speedway family. The relationships built are very good ones.

Cons

I've been there 5 years and only make $8.00/hr. You have opportunity to get a bonus every three months, but everything, and I do mean everything has to be perfect in the store and you have to push people into buying $20,000 worth of crappy gas station food in a month. You also have to push the customers into buying hundreds of selected candy bars/mo. or the bonus is only $20. While the managers who don't do anything get bonuses every month. If you don't kiss butt you can't move up. If you are not willing to work every shift and double shifts you have no opportunity for advancement. The most of a raise you can get in a year is $.20. The assistant managers are suppose to cover shifts for a call in if they cannot find anyone else to work. On more than 3 occasions I had to come in during family emergencies or I would have been written up or fired. But it is suppose to be Asst. Managers job to cover my shift. One was a death in my immediately family and I had to go to work that day. Two of the other occasions my 3 year old son was admitted into the hospital, and the other my mother was involved in a car accident and I had no idea if she was going to be okay. I would never recommend anyone to work at this place, ever.

Pros

As a shift lead you have flexibility as to how you run your shift. Also there are benefits to working at the company even if you are working par time.

Cons

Management treats you terrible and as if you are an insect. I am constantly screamed at and belittled. I am honestly terrified to go into work just awaiting what I will be yelled at about even though I do my best every shift.

Pros

Benefits bonuses (when you can actually achieve them) career options for growth pay is good (for managers only) regular feedback

Cons

upper management's skewed expectations with the labor hours given very poor pay and raise potential for hourly employees managers supposed to only have to work 50 hours but never do, always have to work much more as their the only ones who don't count toward labor hours Constant contradictions between what you are expected and the resources given to do it No work-home life balance for managers at least
