Pros

You will never be laid off at Speedway, however you will probably quit. You never have to worry about figuring out what to do on a weekend ever again! You'll learn about food service, and customer service. You'll quickly learn the value of multi-tasking and delegation.

Cons

No appreciation, very early mornings, ten hour shifts, zero breaks, battling the never-ending auditors who always find a speck of dirt to fail you, the support, and no one ever tells you thank you.

Pros

Benefits - Flexible Schedule - Friendly Coworkers and Customers (If it weren't for them I'd be long gone) - Good Advancement Opportunities - Tuition Reimbursement - Good Hours at the cost of less employees

Cons

I enjoy working at Speedway until I look at the constantly growing task list. There are too many things to get done in a small time frame without enough people. The store I'm at was down two people for three months while we waited for a new hire from the career center. And with the people we had we needed to go to overtime just to get the simple tasks done. One problem though, overtime is all but forbidden. Raises are few and far between for starting at minimum wage. There are no breaks unless your coworker is generous enough to give you five minutes to eat something. There are no discounts on anything and the food that times out is thrown away and you can get fired if you so much as look at it wrong. You are also watched like a hawk on video 24/7 and by the Upper Management who visits quite often.

Pros

Work hard, be honest, logical with long term career in mind and sky is the limit. Not the most glamorous job, Speedway is owned by Marathon Petroleum. They work employees very hard, but it is very easy to climb the ladder with a good attitude and good work ethic. Speedway values honesty and integrity as well and is open minded to suggestions on how to continually improve their business. Store managers have autonomy and it is very rewarding managing a multi-million dollar business with 10+ employees.

Cons

Being a store manager is alot of responsibility of being on call 24/7. But the good managers develop a team of other managers (shift leaders/co managers) who help share the burden of running a fast paced, high volume c-store.
