Pros

You could probably run circle around all the employees at any other job given the work ethic instilled and tight business model you work under.

Cons

Long days (14 hours average) as a manager if you aren't given good employees. Have worked multiple days of 24hour shifts (or longer) due to call offs and poor system for back up help. Very little help or time to train properly. Upper management often doesn't know as much about the systems that they are supposed to train on as most of the store managers do.

Pros

-Obtained some leadership experience -Salary was not terrible for starting out as a co-manager w/some bonus programs(only helpful if you worked at a big store) -Had close working relationships/friendships with pretty much all my co-workers -Working with people from different backgrounds and ethnicities----cultural melting pot

Cons

-Do Not Be Fooled---some of the "great" reviews below have probably been written by HR people who are desperate to get some good words in about this terrible company. -District Managers constantly criticize you...they do not encourage you, do not provide constructive feedback, they do not care about the employees. You are just a number to them, not a human being. -Have been out of this place for a couple years, but from what I remember, constantly pushed suggestive selling, which is good to a degree, but most people don't want to buy your candy and gum every week they come to the store. It got a little too pushy at certain points and felt like we were trying to force these items onto customers. Not always the best customer service. -Worst part of this company=cheapness with labor hrs. Limit # of hrs a store can schedule its employees per week, causing shortage of workers during certain shifts which causes longer lines at the register, and worse customer service. -Hrs as an assistant manager were all over the place including 3rd shift, 2nd shift, and weekend duty. If you wanted to have a social life, this is not the job for you. While the managers get the weekends off except for 1 Saturday per month, the assistant managers are the worker bees, having to work the bad hrs, having to work the weekends, was extremely unfair. -Never got the recognition or respect for being a good worker. I am happy to say I have received that at the current company I work for, WHICH IS NOT SPEEDWAY. -ZERO ADVANCEMENT OPPORTUNITIES

Pros

I've never seen so many great reviews up top for Speedway before. They sound completely believable and true.

Cons

It is not that easy to work your way up in speedway as the top reviews are discussing. I know from personal experience.
