Pros

Free music software, studio for employee sessions, cute dogs, some very nice and talented people

Cons

Unclear direction, lack of execution even though they have no real competition and all the resources in order to revolutionize the music creation process. Lack of musical expertise to steer these decisions which can hurt musicians in the process. As a result product decisions are ambiguous and the teams are split in focus between fighting fires and trying to create new features that eventually run into problems due to the aging architecture.

Pros

Some coworkers and location was great

Cons

CEO did not want to roll out any policy or procedures because he didn't want to restrict employees while employees spent senseless money. The executive team and managers were all inexperienced and difficult to work with. They were horrible communicators and weren't transparent to their employees. They hired their friends and put them in important roles and those who earned their way were all ignored. Don’t have an opinion while working there as they won’t appreciate it. It’s their way or the highway. There was no work/life balance. The CPO would email employees at all times of the night and weekend and were expected to respond. Working 50+ hours was the norm for most employees and CPO encouraged employees to stay and work late and would come in at 12pm each day. There is an incredible amount of turnover with the same answers to the exit interviews, “company is disorganized.” Splice recently received a large amount of funding, yet went through a huge reorganization which doesn’t make sense. They have been lying to investors and has never turned a profit. CFO left after two months of being hired because the CEO didn’t agree with the spending guidelines he was trying to implement. If you are looking to grow within your position, run the other way. Managers are inexperienced and aren’t trained properly. My manager was a micromanager and didn’t let me work on anything challenging. I would highly suggest not working for Splice.

Pros

Private bathrooms on floor 3.

Cons

The Executive team is a walking joke. They take vacations every month and demand work from you day and night. They make the terrible decisions. The CFO walked out of the company after a month realizing how much of a joke this company is. Shortly after they laid off about 20 percent of the company after getting over 100 million in funding (genius, right?). I made my exit shortly before because of this toxic environment. If you're not a tall white man, friend of the executive team or of a burning man variety then you do not stand a chance here. Do yourself a favor and avoid this company. I don't foresee them making it another year. Unless CEO has a better scam for his investors :)
