Pros

Splunk as a company is one of the most accepting and cool places I’ve worked. Almost everyone loves working at Splunk, as I did myself. The benefits and pay are amazing, and the Splunk platform as a product is extremely versatile and cool in terms of how it can manipulate data. The technical folks are in general incredibly smart and willing to help, and most high level Sales RSM’s and RSD’d are well versed in the product, driven, willing to teach, and experts of their craft. A few of the BDR managers are experts at what they do, know how to lead and enable their team, and can push you forward through difficult quarters in healthy ways.

Cons

The sales orgs responsible for Small-Medium accounts are wildly incompetent. The BDR/ISR org rolls up under Marketing, and is aligned to the actual sales teams based on the whims and moods of the BDR/ISR leadership. While there are a select few managers of the BDR org that are experts at what they do, there are others who are wildly incompetent and vindictive. There is known conflict between the managers who have expertise and those who do not, despite their weak attempts at a united front to the BDR/ISR teams. The leadership of the AVP over the BDR/ISR is well-intentioned and progressive, but at times chaotic and too trusting of their subordinate senior managers who are good at maintaining a facade while being vindictive behind their backs. The AVP likely needs additional supporting roles to delegate the thousands of tasks that demand her attention. The training process as a BDR was confusing and lacked direction. This process was highly scrutinized during my tenure, and efforts were being made to improve the processes.
