Pros

The benefits are out of control amazing. Paid time off, maternity leave, 401K, catered lunches, strong emphasis on hiring from within (if applicable), and health, vision, and dental insurance.

Cons

The hours can be pretty brutal on the body since it is a predominantly physical labor job.

Thank you for your review! We're pretty proud of our benefits, and are glad that they are valuable to you. And -- help is on the way for your (and everyone's) well-being at work! We're working on bringing in an ergonomics expert to provide Spoonflower-specific training for everyone on the best ways to perform our job tasks with a minimum of physical strain. That's coming soon! Thanks for your feedback -- please know that you can always reach out to us with your thoughts for how to continue to be, as you say, a 'positive work environment', and we'll take your ideas seriously!

Pros

I have had the 'privilege' of working at various organizations that were not run especially well. Spoonflower stands out as an example of a company that really gets it right. I have never had a less than positive experience in my time there. Communication channels are open and easy to use; the supervisors are friendly, open, and helpful; and the management structures are incredibly person-centered and positive without sacrificing efficiency. The employees are supportive, positive, and fun. There are many possible paths to growth within the company as well.

Cons

The hours can be a bit wearing, but the overall flexibility of the schedule makes up for that most of the time.

Thank you for your comments! We work hard to prioritize people over process, and we're glad to know that this has been your experience. It's true -- 'breaking in' to any established group of people (whether here or anywhere) can be tough. We're working to strike the right balance of providing social opportunities for the whole company (coming to the Spring Picnic?) as well as on a department level. Have an idea for a social event to encourage people to get to know each other? Please share it with us -- we'd love to hear your ideas! Thanks for taking the time to comment!

Pros

Due to the crazy level of wastage, there's lots of free fabric!

Cons

Management bully and ostracise staff they don't like, training is minimal and machines are used with dangerous workarounds. A unique modern-day sweatshop experience.

Thank you for your feedback. Although your concerns are challenging to address in a public online forum, it sounds as if your experience at Spoonflower was not a positive one. This is indeed regrettable. We take safety very seriously and want to address any safety concerns that may arise. We are proud of our training process in Berlin and will provide additional training in any area when employees request it or need it. I hope that you brought your safety and management concerns up while you were still employed. We have found that employees have the greatest job satisfaction and impact on their work environment when they reach out to us with issues or concerns when they first arise. This presents an immediate opportunity to be heard and allows employees and managers to work through those concerns or ideas together. We wish you the best.
