Pros

The owners of the company are the most involved, kind, and generous employers I've ever had. They recently implemented a living wage, when there was no benefit to them to do so. There are so many perks for employees, not the least of which is the fabric benefit. The work is sometimes hard to do physically, but still mentally challenging and fun. Coworkers are all very friendly, talented, inspiring, and helpful. People who find the most success here are the ones who are passionate about innovation and growth and quality. Every day is different and full of new exciting changes as the company is still young and finding its niche in a constantly changing market.

Cons

Sometimes there is a lot of change, which can be hard for those who are not flexible or optimistic. Sometimes change happens faster than communication, but Spoonflower goes out of its way to talk to candidates in interviews about change and flexibility. Also, many people are promoted from within, which is a really great thing, but means that sometimes those people are not well-rounded in all areas and may take some time to grow into their role.

Thank you for your feedback! We agree that we have a team of highly talented, passionate and dedicated employees and we understand that they are motivated by interesting work and professional development. We try hard to make sure that our goal of providing meaningful work and growth opportunities run parallel to the overall goals of Spoonflower. Indeed, change is now the 'constant', the new normal. We recognize that people tolerate change in different measures and appreciate that you understand the challenge that always comes with change management, especially in such a dynamic environment. Your advice to management is sound. We will take it to heart.

Pros

- Excellent advancement opportunities, growth is encouraged and supported - leadership actively helps us to achieve our goals - The pay a living wage - I am constantly inspired creatively. I have learned so much about fabric, sewing, design, art, etc. - Fantastic coworkers - everyone I work with at Spoonflower is friendly, hard working and invested - Supportive and hands on Leadership - from supervisors up to the President and CEO of the company can be found working alongside the "boots on the ground" to get the job done. - Good benefits - our health benefits are great and Spoonflower makes it a priority to ensure that employees don't have to pay too much out of pocket for health care - Maternity and Paternity Leave is available - Free monthly fabric allowance - Flexibility in regards to handling family issues - Fun Work Environment - I don't go a day without laughing at work - Constant improvements - it's great to be on the front lines for such an innovative company - Adorable Spaces - It makes a difference that I can walk into work at a place that is so beautiful, I have worked many places where the decor was boring and just spoke to the blah nature of the company Spoonflower's work spaces are bright, cheery and gorgeous. -I am happy to go to work everyday

Cons

- My craft room is beginning to resemble an episode of Hoarders from all the free fabric - I bore my friends by talking about how much I like my job too much - Obsession with good fabric scissors has increased substantially - Location is too close to a lot of delicious restaurants, daily trips for Korean BBQ at Na'mean can't be advisable

Pros

They encourage employee creativity and individuality. They take care of the employees more then what is necessary or expected. Employee discount on products and a monthly allowance (creativity bonus). Offer overtime pay and increased pay for 3rd shift hours and volunteered snow days. The company is growing quickly so there is always new projects to help out withe and growth for your role within. They hire heavily from within.

Cons

Part time work can vary unreliably between busy times. Sometimes head supervisors work very little hours with evening and weekend staff. Its harder to make an impression on them for promotions unless you work M-F daytime. There is a strong company culture. If you don't drink the Kool-Aid, you might not enjoy it. There is a slight feel of favoritism regarding strictness of policies based on seniority. Employees lean toward liberal ideals, and if you don't agree with the group think - leave your personal opinions at home to avoid hostile and isolating reactions. They are not one for political discussions unless its to pat one another on the back.
