Pros
The pay is competitive and I think the level of technology tools available to the teachers is adequate, at least compared with other public school systems in which I have worked. The professional development opportunities are good.
Cons
The challenges vary from campus to campus honestly. A principal who supports his staff and sets clear expectations for everyone will yield fewer problems outside of student behavior and parent interactions. There is a considerable amount of politics unfortunately, as is customary in public schools. The medical benefits are costly, especially compared to when I began my teaching career. The increase is way more than inflation.
