Pros

Student Employees can benefit from flexible schedules and supervisors who understand the oddities of student life. The commute from class to work is negligible, and there is of course plenty of opportunity for women.

Cons

I had several different student jobs throughout my time at SCU. In common with all of them was a disconnect between supervisors and students as to priorities. Though all of my supervisors exhibited a "studies-first" attitude, this did not stop them for making increasingly time-consuming demands to be taken care of outside of work hours.

The sense of community on campus is unparalleled. My supervisor is my mentor and is very much a team player that has my personal and professional development in mind.

Pros

Great opportunities to learn in different areas of IT if interested. Other IT staffs are usually very easy to get along with. The University is very beautiful to walk around while on your break.

Cons

On occasion, you are ever so honored to being overworked and under appreciated for the work you do. I think this goes for just about every department, but this is only my opinion from what I saw while working there. Student workers also have it very hard, if not harder since they have to learn everything, including what staffs are ONLY supposed to do for faculties, staffs, and students and attend class. Communication doesn't seem to exist in the IT department. You will think that you have access to certain things, and try to login and you call to ask around and find out they switched admin access a long time ago without informing you. If you want something for the IT department, you're most likely NOT going to get it. Most likely because the budget got cut and you have to work with what you have. This leads to over dramatic faculties, staffs, and students.
