Pros

Management is always willing to help where they can. The case load is smaller, it doesn’t feel like I have to rush through patients to get to the next. There is productivity points but it’s easy to meet and management doesn’t seem to worry as much and more about the quality of the cares and visits.

Cons

Driving. You can put on a lot of miles in a week

Pros

My direct co workers are great to work with. The pts and families bring meaning and the job can be a calling. There was a lot of autonomy and flexibility in managing pts and visits. Benefits and compensation are within norms for positions.

Cons

The branches are run very lean, HR and other functions are centralized in a corporate office. There is no support for branches with corporate staff during staffing shortages or if someone leaves. Branch managers are left to ask other branches for help. As a case manager I had case loads up to 35 pts, there was a visit LPN for visits. We often were unable to get equipment for our pts from our supplier and emergency medications were also difficult to get, I was often calling around to local pharmacies to see if they had medications available. Weekend rotations were based on number of staff so what weekends that were assigned were constantly changing making planning impossible. There was 7 on 7 off on call staff but case managers were expected to provide back up support for on call staff overnight while working full time during the day. Vacation is not payed out if preferred notice is not given, in some cases 4 weeks. Also, no pto can be taken once notice has been given.
