Pros
People you work with outside the marketing/communications department are nice. Garren Colvin is doing a good job.
Cons
I worked in the corporate part of the system - in marketing and communications to be specific. There are a lot of cons. - Lack of management support. - Too heavy in middle management (almost a one-to-one manager-to-employee ratio) and lack of direction from the top. - People in management that are not qualified managers, don't know how to properly manage employees or have not received management training. - Senior management seems only concerned with appearance of the team, not the functionality or lack thereof of the team/department. - An environment where they keep saying things will change and nothing ever does. - Lack of structure and organization where people know who does what, causing constant overlap and double assignment. - Somewhat threatening environment where you feel constantly at risk - where a few voices are listened to and are basically given carte blanche to treat the rest of the team abominably with no repercussions. - Members of the department openly talk rudely about members of other departments that they dislike, do not agree with or come to them with additional work. - Benefits are lacking, unless you are a KY resident. If you are an OH resident, you are basically second class in benefits where you have to travel, sometimes 30 minutes, just to have benefit-eligible care (such as urgent care). - Takes 3 years to vest for retirement, so basically any money put away in retirement until then goes unmatched. - Lack of diversity in the department and hospital system. - Nepotism is strong (department heads in other departments being married or related in some way causing issue and/or lack of accountability). Poor vacation policy - they say you get 21 vacation days when you start, but that is a falsehood because part of those vacation days are national holidays you have to take off, such as the 4th of July, Christmas, Memorial Day, Labor Day, etc. Once you subtract those, vacation is less generous.
