Pros

Public company with good accountability in the business depts (Finance, Marketing, Product, Operations, Customer Care). Run lean and we are still often inventing processes that many companies have already instilled or bought. This allows opportunities for innovation which sometimes can create some pretty interesting ideas. Besides that, the pay is good, the leaders as very approachable and its pretty calm and nice place to work. Most employees seem to care abut BOTH the company and customers so the priorities seem well aligned and folks are decently engaged in their jobs. The company even provides drinks and snacks, has a nice lunch room to promote cross functional conversation and tries its best to make things nice for employees. A Gym, Pool and Foosball tables too!

Cons

Dev/Tech dept run with little/no accountability or empowerment. Many folks in this dept just collecting paychecks which are way too high. It's almost strange to see that a company with so much accountability in other depts allows its core dept (as it is a software company) to atrophy and drag the rest of the company down as it does. It's very morale killing across all of the depts the work well above as its oft discussed but everyone feels helpless to their failures and we just try to work around them. Also, a small point that as many systems are left to design from the ground up allows for innovation but also hurts progress sometimes in 2 ways: 1) the solutions that we make are sometimes sub-optimal than best of breed as we are not SME in some cases and create something that is "good enough" but not the best we can deploy 2) as time is spent on these ancillary systems, these can impeded resource dedication to core goals/initiatives and delay teams from executing what's most important

A Great Place to Work

Pros

Company culture: I would say relaxed in the sense that you can wear what you want, and you come into work with very friendly people. It's not unusual to see the CEO in the kitchen and to actually talk with him. There is minor bureaucracy with getting things approved, but it isn't so much so that nothing ever gets completed in a timely manner. The company makes careful and thoughtful decisions. Everyone is friendly and willing to help. There is definitely a team environment. Benefits: Great healthcare coverage. You get 3 weeks of vacation starting... :) Individual Growth: The company hires a lot from within, which is excellent. Upper management has employees who started at very entry level positions. You can grow in the company if you want to. Food: There are free snacks in the main floor kitchen (each floor has a kitchen, but only the main floor has food). From fresh fruit to cereal, goldfish, mixed nuts, energy bars, sodas, juices, milk, almond milk, chips, and other snack items, you won't go hungry if you need a quick pick me up. Perks: The company has a ton of nice perks. The LA Metro line is near by and great if you want to take the train to work and then walk 10 minutes to the office. Access to a variety of discounts via their membership with discount sites. HR does a lot to try and bring events and activities to the employees and is very knowledgeable of all employee related benefits. There is also an employee grassroots initiative to start up employee run events, such as making lunches for the homeless (which we do once a month) Brand new building: The building is gorgeous and new. Lots of natural light, an outdoor deck and a small gym.

Cons

Depending on your department, your opinion of the team environment may not be so great. Some departments are happier with how they are run than others. A lot of policy changes need approval of upper level management, and sometimes that shouldn't be required. There are some things upper management should let go of and entrust to its employees to get done correctly.

Pros

Free snacks and sodas, company events, good Insurance. but these come at a cost ie: in bonuses and compensation.

Cons

Slow to change and adapt, which leaves it behind in tech world. No accountability or action plan for mistakes made that affect users and employees year after year
