Pros
From my own experiences and from what I observe in others around me, if one is willing to focus, work diligently and be honest, Standex is a great place to work and you will be entrusted with new opportunities and/or interesting projects. I see it in the Finance Department. I also see it in Internal Audit (I don't work in Audit).
Very healthy balance of hard work / deadlines and fun. There are many other opportunities outside of Standex. We certainly spend too much time together to not make it fun. Don't expect foosball tables all over the place, but the employees and management create a very pleasant atmosphere.
With trust and hard work comes flexibility. Mgt definitely understands life can throw up challenges sometimes. Family members (even pets) get sick, cars need repairs, etc. As long as you don't abuse it, it is comforting knowing that mgt trusts you can handle it and the work will get done... work from home occasionally, work after hours, make it up later, etc.
My supervisor expects a lot from his team, but coaches and trusts us to do the right thing. I have never seen any micromanaging at Standex unless the situation called for it. The team is too small to be able to afford it.
Other members of senior management in the other departments are very personable and pleasant to work with as well. I would highly recommend Standex to an interested candidate / applicant.
Cons
It is a small Corp HQ. It would be difficult if you prefer to work in the safety of a team and slowly morph into the role you were hired for. One is not set up to fail, but a small HQ does require each team member to pull hard and early on.
