      Pros

      Pros are for obvious reasons: the fame, the environment, etc. The job categories provided at Stanford University are huge --- almost anything you can think of, so it really depends on individual cases. The bottom line: try to avoid the bottom categories: "Postdoc" or so-called "Research Specialist" which often are treated as dispensable, lowly slaves, rather than "former" staff or employees.

      Cons

      Working under the title of "Postdoc" or "Research Specialist" under a PI is essentially like working under a private slave owner: your whole life depends on one persons' conscience.
