Pros

Virtual work environment....allowing employees and management to work where ever. Decent pay, but came from an acquisition so no change so far...

Cons

Collaborative management style created a decision bottleneck amongst senior leaders. I was from one of their many acquisitions and as mentioned in other reviews, the company buys your company....doesn't do anything right away from an org standpoint and then attrition starts to set in and morale goes bad. There is a contracts and compliance group at Stantec that reports through operations that is unprofessional and only knows a portion of what they are doing. When anybody brings up good points with management, that would make them take action on major concerns, they blow if off as not being a concern because they see that part of the business not contributing large enough revenue volume to warrant risk or they make it seem like it's a misinterpretation on the employee's part so they don't have to address the issue. Because so many acquisitions have occurred of smaller businesses they really have managers that are not qualified to be VP's or Senior VP's but are placed into those roles because those are the positions they were in at their 30 person company that was acquired.

Pros

The people are good. The job is meh at best.

Cons

My experience comes from the operations side, and I can tell you we were promised BIG THINGS when our company was acquired. We were even promised large roles with Stantec and were told that the company does this often, but that each of the company's respective practices would be reviewed closely and the best policies and programs would be selected. This did not happen. As time rolls on, it's clear that this was never their intention and that things would slowly shift to Stantec's way of doing business. It is sad for those of us who were excited to see new and improved changes. It is demoralizing for everyone when promises are made and fall-through (habitually). There is clearly no leadership, or when the only instruction that is given is to leave things the same. It seems no one wants to get in muck to actually determine best practices and provide guidance. Those in leadership that are supporting changes and progress are eventually shut down by the politics played. I honestly don't know how they will keep good people around much longer. It's disheartening. This company has great potential, but until significant changes are made there is very little hope for that.
