      Discovering the new Stantec

      Pros

      With acquisitions, Stantec is reinventing itself. Opportunity. Change. New service lines, jobs, clients. New colleagues. The company is trying to do the right thing both in the industry and internally; working hard to communicate the vision to achieve alignment.

      Cons

      The rate of acquisitions and hiring means it's not the Stantec of yesterday but discovering who we are today and will be tomorrow. With that comes a lot of change, a lot of "I don't know ... yet", and new gray space where there was once clarity. This can be tiring for managers and staff; and at times feels counter-productive.

      Plenty of Traffic Control Plan and PEPCO work

      Cons

      (1) Principal makes extremely rude remarks, inappropriate for inside the office or in a progressive society in general. Principal comments on someone's race/ethnicity, and brag about manipulating other consultants or client representatives over conference calls. Complaints filed to HR don't do anything, partly bc principal has endless contractual work with PEPCO. (2) The senior principal values PEPCO underground electric contracts over actual land development contracts (keep in mind this is a land development firm) bc it guarantees work. (3) The office has a history of losing employees. (4) Principal gives 6% pay raises to women, and only 1% pay raises to men.
