Pros

I am very thankful for my management team and have learned a great deal about the business of Staples and retail in general. My co-workers are in a lot of ways like my second family. For the most part I enjoy my interactions with our customers and feel confident in my knowledge of company policy and my ability to provide them with the type of service that I would like to have as a customer. I feel that I am listened to by my management team within my store and at the district level. I like my benefits and perks.

Cons

Even when you have finished your management training successfully there is no pay raise and promotions do not seem to be something that corporate is truly concerned with. Sometimes it does seem that you need to prove yourself 20 times over and I think that is because the management that you work with directly actually has little to do with when or whether you will get promoted and then at the next level you do not see these managers on a regular basis and even at that they cannot create promotable positions where none exsist. I don't truly understand Staples "inside" Management Training program. It's not what I expected or hoped for. In my opinion there are truly only two cons, pay for work completed and expected is below average and there seems to be a very long wait for promotion.
