      Pros

      I believe that Staples is truly committed to its employees..it is a great place to work!

      Cons

      There are no real opportinuties for career advancement once you reach a certain level (ie: management)...the perception is that you have to leave the company for a higher position and then return..you will not be promoted if you are a loyal and committed employee.

      Pros

      Staples is an ever expanding company with upward mobility. They have many good ideas and intentions. Staples has an open door philosophy and even have an input box where suggestions are taken seriously. Staples tracks individual advancement and awards associates of the month with $20.00.

      Cons

      Staples offers poor recognition / feedback and mediocre wages. It should do something about the communication between managers so that all managers are not trying to make the same associate do multiple jobs at the same time. The wages could be a little more competitive so they retain employees longer.

      Pros

      Great for high school and college kids to learn business. Each store has good / bad managers. Must be willing to have good customer service skills. Must undergo monthly mystery shooper reviews. Must be in good shape to stand on feet for 8 hrs a day or 4 hour shift. Frequent bending to lower shelves. Frequent climbing ladder for high shelves.

      Cons

      poor pay, must work weekends/holidays/ evenings/ early mornings. Black Friday- day after Thanksgiving when stores open at 5am or 6am and must be there. Must wear uniform of red shirt/ black pants/ black shoes. Video cameras in every store. Must frequently keep store clean and neat. Frequent shelf cleaning is part of job.
