Pros

Good place to meet people and business owners and learn about computers, software, digital cameras and generally a place to practice doing a lot and staying busy most of the time. A person can move up to department lead positions

Cons

promo and extended policy promotion affect job security as does speed of work. Energy drinks are used by management and star employees, if a person doesn't work at this level of speed your hours will be cut, days off changed or shift changed without notice. Store managers have a huge amount of stress put on them and are expected to do the work of several hourly employees. District managers don't really care how good numbers are achieved for corporate, and store managers have a lot of carrots dangled. It's an issue of corporate looking too much at numbers and not seeing what's really going on, the problem is margins are too small and that's why extended service policies are pushed, jobs are threatened, and power drinks are pushed.

Pros

fun people great management. associates are able to make monthly bonuses. we get paid on a weekly basis. staples is very flexible with my personal schedule and school schedule. competing with other associates on sales is a lot of fun and challenging at the same time.

Cons

rasies are not that great and advancement is based on seniority and not skills. managers like to pile on the daily projects without thinking about customer service. overtime is greatly frowned upon. associate discounts are not daily. we are given a specific week where we can get 10 percent off.

Pros

I have to stay there until a better job comes open...

Cons

they have taken away our bonuses by making the goal WAY out of reach. they have taken away our discount purchasing days. they want us to work more with less people (hours have been cut back). they won't back us up with out of line customers... the motto 'the customer is always right' is NOT alway right.
