Pros

If you are competent, the opportunity to promote is very available. The benefits are awesome and I love that part time baristas can get the same insurance options as store managers. I'm very proud of the way Starbucks promotes global corporate responsibility and takes care of the little people that have made it the internationally known brand that it is. Also, Starbucks attracts really great long-term employees.

Cons

The annual salary for the store manager of a 2.5 million dollar store is the same as a manager of a much lower volume store, even though the former operates a much more difficult and complex environment. The annual raise of a store manager is usually between 2 and 3 percent and unfortunately the cost of living is increasing faster than our salaries.

Pros

They encourage growth of all of their partners, from Baristas to DMs. My benefits package cannot be beat by any one. I feel I have a good, work/life balance.

Cons

The actual pay is not that much. Corporate can be very "politic-y".

Pros

Free pound of coffee a week, discounts on items, potential for overtime for a salaried manager position.

Cons

The pay is very low, the bonuses are low, the morale is low, the opportunity to grow is unavailable, the management is poor, with no direction and ever changing. During the course of 1 year there were 4 Area managers, and a variety of shift managers. The management continuously preached they wanted things to change but they continued with the same habits. Upper management would instigate issues on the store levels instead of solve the issues.Made several calls to corporate only to be shunned at work because the calls do not remain anonymous. Scheduling was hectic the manager would place people to get off work at 1 am just to return back to work at 9 am. By far the worst company to ever work for. Absolutely ashamed that I had any affiliation with the company.
