Pros

Great benefits, flexible hours, free coffee, regular customers.

Cons

I have worked for the company for over 6 years, and 5 if them I’ve been a supervisor. In those years, the morale has suffered greatly. Upper management adds more labor intensive tasks and drinks and cuts labor so baristas and supervisors feel overworked and drained. Due to this, turnover rate has been extremely high and you end up working on days that you need off and picking up slack from unmotivated workers. The company chooses to hire management from outside and pay them more than if you’re promoted within, which getting promoted is difficult in itself seeing as I’ve been waiting on a promotion that I’ve been promised for two years and I don’t see it happening in the near future. Baristas and supervisors that have worked here for years get paid as much as brand new hires that aren’t as skilled or work as hard and there’s no competitive pay. The pay itself as well as no promise of hours are barely enough to get by. Also, most managers I’ve dealt with have made things very personal with baristas and will sabotage you if you get on their bad side or choose favorites and upper management will do nothing about any complaints about poor work ethic and bullying from store managers.

Pros

I started as a barista and worked my way up to store manager in less than 3 years. Salary was pretty decent for my experience level and education (or lack of). Benfits, especially stock grants, were awesome.

Cons

The hours are rough and can make work life balance difficult at times. Company started making targets totally unattainable so bonuses basically went the way of the Dodo. District managers played favorites so raises also became a joke.
