Very fake atmosphere

Pros

The family atmosphere and the fact that everybody was called by their first names added to a good feeling while working.

Cons

Tattoos and piercings were not allowed while I had been working at Starbucks, and even though I don't have any I feel that this rule resembles the company's rigid and closed worldview. The yearly event for all employees during which the best employees were given a gift seemed very over the top for me just as much as the monthly meetings with the district manager during which some of the team pretended to be customers and the others the Batistas. These meetings were so artificial and made me realise how fake the company is. I was part of a team that was to open a brand new store. During the first month I had worked 40 extra hours. When I asked my store manager about the payment of those hours he said that I had no extra hours. Having felt ridiculed and used I copied all my working hour papers sent them to the district manager and got played. My store manager though completely freaked out. Such thing is just unacceptable.
