Pros

Some very hard working store employees who really buy into the Starbucks ideiology and work ethic.

Cons

District Managers and above for the most part are appalling. They talk at you, look to blame people for their mistakes. Many promoted because of political correctness instead of performance. Too many act like little Cesars by establishing an inner circle that is impossible to penetrate. Many DM's are young and have no education thereby bringing an unprofessional and immature demeanor to their district. They cannot relate to older, more seasoned subordinates. Store Managers are not really managers but really first amongst equals. They clean toilets and make drinks when they should be managing the store. A SM is on call 24/7 with little to no support from their DM and 100% of the blame. Advancement is limited to how connected and Politically Correct you are.

Pros

THe benefits, rebates on drinks, free drinks on shift, a markout of 1 lb. of coffee per week. Getting to know customers and meet interesting people. Fun, busy work environment.

Cons

Bad managment can make your life miserable, especially when it comes to scheduling and milk orders. Rushes can be pretty miserable , especially when understaffed. There are cranky, rude customers as well but my experience hasn't been as awful as I've heard it can be. Confrontations between morning and closing shifts and pettiness can be a problem as well. Avoid drama at all costs!!!

Pros

Starbucks gives full benefits for part-time work, which is awesome. You generally have some flexibility in your hours up until the schedule is set the week beforehand, making this a perfect job for students and artists who need health insurance but need to not be in the office 9-5 every day.

Cons

You end up working weird shifts -- sometimes until 1 am to close, sometimes arriving at 4:30 am to open. And someone has to work the holidays, so be prepared to negotiate with your co-workers for your favorites.
