Pros

Offers both a fully vested pension program and 401k options Generous time off and benefit packages Education reimbursement and sponsorship for insurance industry designation courses

Cons

Little to no alternative working arrangements Promotion from within tends to lead to lack of diversity and a "boys club" mentality once past the first line leaders role. No clear path to leadership- must be extremely driven or resourceful to navigate through corporate structure Company is in flux meaning instability and insecurity on part of all employees-leads to fierce competition among colleagues

Pros

You get a paycheck every other Friday. You receive benefits. Stable company. Many very nice people and people who a pleasant to be around. Many employees are as miserable as you. Additional hours / overtime is generally available. Small food stores on site have very nice items. Tempe Town Lake is behind buildings.

Cons

Now where to start. No input on shift. You get the shift they give you. In your training class you could have a shift that another person would find to be perfect, and vice versa, but too bad as you cannot trade. Position involves taking information over the telephone to create a claim. Focus is on the metrics and basically getting the caller off the line as quickly as possible. Position is extremely stressful as the call time requirements create an environment where one cannot be helpful. Focus is on AHT (average handle time). For those who meet the requirements, some sound constantly irritated with the customer, and rush through their calls. Some rush the customer to the point of upsetting the customer. Supposedly those staff are doing a good job because they meet the metrics. Staff will sit with you to "help" you with no warning or advance notice. Be prepared for endless criticism. Really no cubicle walls or privacy. Cubicles are low and you have no drawers or file cabinet. Building is a glass high rise. Cannot take stairs up, but can take stairs down. Small food stores on site are nice but items are extremely expensive. Parking is underground and there can be a long wait to enter and leave.

Pros

Great benefits. I've made some life-long friends at this company and learned a lot in my 8+ year career here.

Cons

The company is trying to catch up to other internet company's that have been nipping at their heels for the past 10 years. They have implemented changes without thinking about the long term effects on their policyholders and their employees. It has changed moral drastically and employees who have been there for 35+ years are jumping ship. Its really sad to see.
