Pros

This is a good company to work for and gain experience in the insurance industry. They are the leader in home and auto sales so there are many different areas to work in. Lots of room for advancement if willing to relocate to different areas of the country. Great co-workers on the cat team. Management is fairly easy to work with and understanding of your needs.

Cons

Upper management not listening to the needs of the cat team. When workload is heavy, not much consideration given for time off or # of days worked. Changes made without input from cat team members. Pay not up to par with other company catastrophe teams.

The best insurance company in almost every category of insurance.

Cons

Every agent is different and they determine your salary. No benefits No Health insurance Small amount of commissions paid.(10 dollars per policy)

Pros

State Farm is full of good people who care about the company. It is also very good about focusing on a work / life balance, even to the detriment of the business as a whole. Politics don't seem as bad as other reviews have indicated. It's easy to stand out.

Cons

Senior management doesn't seem to understand the basics of business and there is more focus on designations than on knowing standard business methods and management techniques. I'm concerned that the company will not be able to respond to more nimble competitors. The large agent pool is a legacy cost that makes it hard to enter new markets or innovate.
