Pros

Unlimited opportunity if sacrifices are willing to be made - relocation/work hard. Great benefits - agency and operations Very close culture - very small-feeling large corporation It's nice to work for the largest/the best in a particular industry Mentoring Opportunities Fair pay structure on operations side Agency culture is the envy of the industry - the very best Diversity among employees

Cons

Technology lags and can be limiting - a "big ship to turn" they tell us Managers often have trouble being leaders rather than managing Very conservative overall - not a bad thing perhaps a bit naive in some way. Slow to change but it's getting better Company is slow to respond to demands of society - to recognize them

Pros

I love the claims handling process, estimating and interaction with the policyholders.

Cons

As an independent claim rep I am overlooked and underutilized. The workplace is full of conflict, gossip and negativity. Management is not helpful and often times not present at all.

Pros

*Great emphasis on employee development and work/life balance *The company is super-focused on our customers *Very stable and respected company *Tuition reimbursement available after one year of employment *Amazing employee retention and tenure; most people do not want to leave once they've started! *Excellent benefits, including an available credit union membership. The benefits are very comprehensive. *Support and rewards for industry education. State Farm helps their employees be the most knowledgable in the industry. *A very respectable and straightforward culture. They don't put up with any 'shenanigans', if an employee does something dishonest or unacceptable they will be fired. This is in keeping with State Farm's dedication to service and keeps employee pride and morale high. *I am very proud, and happy, to be employed by State Farm. Have been with them for fewer than 5 years and hope to be working there until retirement.

Cons

The only downside that I have seen is that State Farm is so focused on doing what is right and remaining stable and profitable and secure that sometimes it takes us longer to make changes than it would at other companies. This is also partly due to the fact that we're such a huge insurer.
