Pros

The exit and the people

Cons

In 4 short years, this company went from being one of the greatest places to work to Hell on Earth. Imagine the worst call center environment you can, then multiply that by infinity and you get a fraction of how horrible the culture is. Employees are miserable, getting time off is next to impossible and people are quitting in droves. When I decided to leave, I realized I was being grossly underpaid for the amount of work I was being forced to do. You can easily expect to "own" 250-300 claims. It is impossible to provide the type of customer service they want with this amount of claims in your inventory. The reason the inventory is so high is because they can't keep employees....because they suck. If you have the opportunity to work here.. don't. Unless they fire Michael Tipsord as CEO. And if they do that, wait at least a year to see if opinions change.

Pros

The pay is competitive.. Overall, good people work for State Farm Insurance. Good brand recognition. Still offers reasonably good benefits.

Cons

Company in decline. They stopped caring about their employees, customer service rankings are dropping like a rock, work life is a thing of the past. The only things on the rise is micro managing, resignations and lay-offs disguised as company restructuring. Upper management does not appreciate their employees.

Pros

The company offers good (not great) benefits - 401k match is a joke, fellow employees are mostly great because the training program is extensive and requires intellect, and most front-line management understands the employee perspective. This is a great place to learn about insurance and they will train you endlessly about it.

Cons

Once you're a trained insurance professional the company treats you like a child by attempting to micromanage you until you quit. Second tier management is stuck in their metrics instead of understanding employees. Logistical problems abound as they consistently over staff areas just to have other areas overworked. The company has lost a lot of their employee focus over the last 5-10 years and is now losing employees because of it. No amount of quality work will gain you a promotional opportunity - only the amount of designations you can get and even then most employees are teased along at the chance of receiving a promotion without ever getting one. Work-life balance is a joke as numerous employees in my position worked well over 260 days last year (myself included) and got little more than a "thanks" from our immediate management.
