Pros

For those driven to learn, the company can still be a great starting point. A long history and capabilities in the four walls do still exist. Amenities and benefits are good, and if the case may be, exit packages are fair.

Cons

Although great expertise still resides within the walls, utilising it is a challenge (silos, the best staff are very busy with regulations, and there may be a back-log of queries e.g. IT.) Many years outsourcing duties can take a toll on the collective culture and belief in a long and fruitful career. Downward trend in stock price may make things worse. Get ready for a bumpy ride.

Good place to start a carrier.

Cons

Very centrelized place to work in, senior management have no idea whats going on the lower levels. Very bad salaries, no opportunities to get promoted, no clear and fair promotions cycle if if happens at all.

Mid level managers is pretty bad with their people skills or managing people. Maybe just my team though. Our department doesn't promote from within the team, for some reason they tend to hire supervisors from the outside and we the associates train the supervisors which doesn't make total sense at all.
