Pros

Excellent place to begin a career if you're new to the financial industry. If you're looking to get into the industry but don't have a strong background, State Street is a good place to get your career launched. The overall level of talent is lower than you'd expect at one of the bigger firms, but they hire capable and friendly people. The culture is fairly laid back, but maintains a professional atmosphere.

Cons

Among the lowest pay in the industry, but generally fits the qualification level required. The work itself is quite tedious with low levels of variance. There aren't many opportunities for creativity as the work is quite repetitive

Pros

The more you give the more you get! Work hard, request additional responsibilities and ask questions and you can move ahead quick! There are plenty of managers who are willing to help and need qualified staff. There are so many different departments that if you are motivated you could find your ideal job. Will it be handed to you - No but you can work for it. The are numerous flex time opportunities where employees are able to work from home, work flex time or alternative/flexible schedules.

Cons

Sometimes the entry level positions are not glamorous so new staff move on instead of sticking it out and learning the ins and outs. Instead they sit at their desk, do what they are told and nothing extra. Time and money is spent training these people then they move on.

Pros

Good compensation and benefits. Good work life balance. It is the kind of place where people can, if they choose, get lost and never have to take real responsibility. They seem to pay people alot at the higher levels like vp.

Cons

Poor senior management. It seems as though everyone at the vp level and above is brain dead! Maybe that is a what they look for in senior management. Employee morale is in the toilet.
