After One Month…

Pros

$1500 budget given to you for shoes...

Cons

...that $1500 is given after your 3-month probationary period. When you first start you can only buy ONE pair of shoes for 50% off, and you can only wear that ONE pair EVERY SHIFT for at least THREE MONTHS. So if that ONE pair of shoes turns out to be uncomfortable, TOO BAD. (The blisters on my feet are a real beauty!) Your performance on selling Tana shoe care add-ons affects your hours. So if customers don't want to buy that $12.99 pair of leather insoles...NO SHIFTS FOR YOU THE FOLLOWING WEEK. Say goodbye to weekend evenings...they LOVE scheduling people for 3 HOUR ON-CALL SHIFTS Thursday through Saturday. The amount of ladder climbing and near-falling to your death to grab a pair of shoes for a customer that doesn't even intend to buy them... Got an opening shift? Prepare to wait an hour locked outside of the store as you wait for your manager to arrive WITHOUT APOLOGY OR REASON. Unorganized, ridiculous, and unfair system of shoe retrieval and scheduling.

Pros

Company encourages diversity through dress code (gives 50% discount, as well as free pairs); everyone is encouraged to showcase their unique style through fashion forward trends. At the store level I am even able to stream my own music depending on the mood of the store. The company is small enough that I can call my Allocaor, LP Director, etc. by first name... I'm not just store #XYZ. The company sends out weekly recognition for store KPI's & sales, as well as personal recognition for top achievers which I think is great.

Cons

The company has not given annual raises the last 3 years, which is hard to stay motivated in helping increase sales for your boss. There are no quarterly or even annual team meetings in which management teams can bond & share knowledge within their district. There is not a formal District Manager in Training program so once you're a Store Manager you are kind of stuck with growth opportunities (besides moving to a higher volume store).
