The only good thing I can say is that they have new trucks. But the payments are astronomically high, along with the insurance and gas.

Cons

I was in the allicance program with Stevens. They give you very little miles but no matter how little miles they give you, you are expected to make the huge truck payment WEEKLY! I would not recommend this program to anyone! They label it a “school” so they can rob you blind and keep their pockets full. Do your research there are many other negative reviews for this place even on the company side. But the alliance program is a big gimmick and rip off. Heed the warning please.

Our lease program was created to help our drivers, with as little risk as possible, to transition from being a company driver to owning their own business. It is designed to be a helping hand along the way with all of the support staff you could need including business counselors and driver managers to help. If you discover that it is not for you, we will even allow you to cancel your lease early with no penalties. Pros

The pay was decent, and my driver manager was helpful and professional, and the company kept me busy just about every day. There was the opportunity to earn extra income whenever I had the chance to lump my own load. The company emphasized safety measures. I experienced the open road across our beautiful nation.

Cons

I drove throughout the 48 mainland states picking up and delivering goods, and this meant that I was away from home for long periods of time so I was away from my beloved family far too often.

It seems like you had a positive experience with Stevens as a whole, although we understand that OTR can be difficult for some and we do tend to specialize in irregular route transportation. We have begun to offer a few more regional based positions to meet the needs of a changing driver population, but the process is a slow one and does not meet all of the needs of our customers at this moment. I am sorry that Stevens was not a long-term home for you, we are happy we were able to be your partner while you were here! We also wish you the best wherever life takes you next!

driving school was not very good i got lucky and had a great trainer if not for that

Cons

this company is like a pyramid scheme. watch your pay very closely. former stevens drivers talk about there time there like they were serving prison time. when i left stevens i was in the top 10 solo company driver for miles driven no tickets or accidents

I am sorry that you had a poor experience. We have one of the top training programs in the industry, and many very skilled trainers who are there for all of our students to help them succeed. I am glad that you had a good experience with your trainer, but would like to know more about why you did not think the driving academy prepared you for the industry as well as which academy you attended, the one here on-site in Dallas, TX or one of our many contracted academies. Without specific feedback, it is hard to grow! We are also very concerned that you report difficulties with payroll.
