Evaluating a new job opportunity can be a challenge. Although there are a number of reasons a person will to use to identify I believe I know of one that will offer a concrete starting point. I call it "The Shopping Cart Theorem". The premise is quite simple. You've just finished picking up groceries for the week. As you're rolling your shopping cart out to your vehicle you're cataloging in your head one more time making sure that you've gotten everything on the list. Milk, check. Bread, check. Right down the line it's apparent you did a thorough job this Sunday afternoon. Good thing too because it's 105 degrees outside and you really don't want to run the risk of having to leave frozen groceries outside any longer than needed. You arrive at your vehicle just in time to use your foot to grab the trunk door and kick it up. After moving a few things around to make room you start improvising a short game of Grocery Tetris, it's really all about the eggs. After a total of 60 seconds you're done, door is shut, time to head back home. You place your shopping cart just outside the drivers side door careful not to nick the paint as you scoot inside. Proud of your agile finish you slowly back your vehicle out of the parking spot, once again careful not to hit the your shopping just outside your door. You drive home and arrive with ample time to store your frozen food with no casualties. Thus ends The Shopping Cart Theorem. If that story describes a typical day out shopping than it's safe to say StormWind is not going to be a fit for you. Why? ... You didn't return your shopping cart. I'm sure there are plenty of great excuses as to why didn't feel the need to do this, and they're all good reasons - they're also reasons why you wouldn't want to work at StormWind. For those who did return their shopping cart: Most. Challenging/Rewarding. Opportunity. Ever. StormWind will force you to grow in ways you didn't know were possible. I mean this in the best way possible as StormWind is very much a family. With the challenge comes support and mentoring from all four corners. Never have I had the pleasure to work in an organization with such competent, empathetic, and self-less people - and it starts from the top down. Leadership sets the bar very high for themselves first which inevitably trickles down the line to every employee. I could write a book on just the way this makes me feel inside, it's an honor to come to work everyday. This is not to say that StormWind is a fit for everyone, we're not arrogant enough to think it is - however for those who are looking for not just a job but a truly fantastic career full of opportunities this provides an avenue of approach. It'll kick your butt, and just when you think you can't improve anymore you'll discover just how wrong you are. Easily the toughest opportunity I've been blessed with, however also the most rewarding. Money? Absolutely! Self? You have no idea.
