Just to start off with, this is my experience at my location. This may vary from studio to studio, which all types of jobs will give a different type of setting. We were understaffed almost the entire time I was working there. So I was given a lot more responsibilities than I was supposed to have. Which I didn’t mind at first, but it made me feel like I couldn’t call out for any day since there were some days that I was working by myself and couldn’t ask someone to cover for me. I also believe that 1 out of the 2 owners just simply did not do a good job at managing everyone who worked in the specific locations they owned. I had recently gotten sick with the flu and was forced to be out for a couple of weeks. Of course the entire time I was letting my manager know about everything so he wouldn’t get left in the dark about when I was coming back. I had learned after coming back that the owner wanted to write me up for being out for the days that I was supposed to work, but couldn’t due to my high risk of infecting someone. Which is extremely frustrating to hear since I was one of the couple of people who went full time and did not call out that entire time period I was full time. Luckily my manager was defending me and talking about how I was one of the few who actually helped during this time, and that writing me up for that reason would’ve just been stupid. To me it just shows that the owner doesn’t care about the employees, just the potential money missed for people who wanted to sign up but didn’t get to since there wasn’t an extra person there. Plus he always came off to me as greedy and was trying to force people to work more hours at the end of my time working there. There’s a lot more things just due to bootlicking and being willfully ignorant about how the employees are treated, but I suppose this does vary depending on the location and the owners/managers of the studios of StretchLab. Also the amount of work that we do physically isn’t worth the pay that the Flexologists are given, but that’s up to your own opinion. There’s barely any one working at the studio I was at, and hopefully the owner sees this and understands that maybe he is the problem and needs to do better in order keep employees for a longer period of time. Some people may have a better experience working there, which I did at the beginning of being an employee with a different owner, and can only hope others do. This is more of a starting job than a long term one unless you plan on trying to move up the status ladder.
