Pros

I was part time, but due to employees calling in/not showing up I was able to work as many hours as I wanted. My store manager and area manager were great. Most of the people I worked with were nice. The location was a busy spot, so I had lots to do. I hate to just stand around. So it kept me busy. My manager did a GREAT job scheduling me for the hours I could work since I had children in school. She was really great.

Cons

Some of the people I worked with were undependable and would force me to have to fill in for them, or go past my scheduled shift. Also employees that worked the shift before me didn't clean or stock like they should have, so it was left for me to do, many times.

Pros

Good pay, good benefits descent bonuses. Very structured, there's a place and process for everything. Lots of coverage. It was rare to be short handed.

Cons

Mostly hire outside the company for GM's. Very high turn over rate for management. Low morale in those stores with turn door managers.

Pros

The initial salary offer was what attracted me most to this position and the company. The promise of results oriented bonus incentives was also attractive. The large breadth of the current composition and the increasing establishment of additional market share across the Southwest also promised great future potential.

Cons

Unfortunately, I never saw my actual contract until my first day of work. You are required to work a minimum of 60 hours a week, all weekends (except Sunday if you are fully staffed) and you will not be authorized to take any holidays. The actual leadership structure is extremely inefficient. 10-12 general managers report directly to an area manager and then to the regional manager. The command structure is very bottom-heavy with little to no promotion potential. Area managers normally work from home and have very little oversight at individual locations and are only required to visit a store location twice a month. Please be absolutely positive this type of retail industry is for you before signing on. Turnover for Stripes is alarmingly high in this industry and job satisfaction is dangerously low.
