Pros

Well-known, diverse company, with mostly good products. Stryker goes through a pretty deep recruiting process, which makes for a great group of lower level employees. Looks good on a resume for when you decide to jump to a better job.

Cons

Wages are not as competitive as they like to think. Some products are over engineered and focus shifts from quality to flashy and stylish. Company progress is geared almost exclusively to stock-holders, whatever looks good on paper to bring in more investors. Not much thought given to "investing" in employees anymore. Promotions are not based on performance or ability, but connections in management.

Good place to work

Pros

The company has a good culture and pushes employees to be the best. Most employees are very competitive and want to be the best, and Stryker provides plenty of opportunities for top performers to advance their careers within the company. It can be a great place to build a career if you work hard, have a competitive personality, and play your cards right. If you aren't very driven or aren't a top performer, you might burn out or end up in the same role for a long period of time.

Cons

Job satisfaction seems to have a lot to do with management. If your manager is supportive and flexible, it's a great place to work. If your manager isn't very supportive or flexible, it's not such a great place to work. It's a pretty competitive company, so if you're not a competitive or motivated person or not a Type A personality, things could get miserable.
