Pros

The people and culture are terrific, as are the opportunities to find the right fit for each person.

Cons

The pay for San Jose is not competitive. The dominant sales force negatively impacts the need to innovate with new product development. While they're great at bringing in and developing talented individuals, they're not always good at making them feel appreciated or retaining them.

Working at Stryker

Pros

As with any large place of employment, who your boss is, is what determines your work environment and satisfaction more than company policies. The company as a whole seems to care about their employees' well being and conducts surveys, such as the 360 survey, to help make for better and more satisfied employees. They have decent benefits and occasional Friday Happy Hour, which is nice.

Cons

If you're the type of person that enjoys working in an aggressive environment, you'll probably enjoy working at Stryker Fremont. Most employees are in their 20's and 30's, aggressive, and motivated. Coming from a medical device company which operated differently, I didn't like this style very much, but it's a matter of preference. Drilling down to low to mid level management, there was a lot of politics at play and some unrest going on. This had to do with shifting responsibilities and it made for a not so pleasant work environment. This does not apply to all areas of the company though.
