Love working there.

Pros

It's really easy. There isn't anything too complicated about making sandwiches and prepping food. I always met a lot of my friends working there.

Cons

Customers can be very rude, especially if prices go up on things. Customers like to take out everything on the employees when really they have no say in what the cost is.

Pros

The people. Serving friends, family, and strangers are a fun part of my job; I get to meet new faces or catch up with old customers.

Cons

Not really any. Some days are good and some aren't so fair, that's all part of the job though. Getting through the day is part of a growing success, not only for your job but to yourself and proving the day wrong.

Worst working experience of my life

Pros

If you are experienced in food prep, and as a cashier, and if you enjoy hectic, unorganized work, you may like this job.

Cons

I received very little training. The manager expected me to ask questions as I worked, which often meant leaving a customer and running to the back for help. This "training" period doesn't last long, as I was yelled at by my manager in front of customers for not knowing how to make a certain sandwich. My shifts were short (usually 3 hours, 5 at most) and only once or twice a week. This made training incredibly difficult. After only working 3 or 4 hours, a coworker cornered me and told me I would be let go if I did not get faster. I was still very much in training at this point. At Subway, you are expected to have memorized all the sandwich ingredients, and mastered the till, by the end of your first shift - even if this is your first job. Employees are overworked - one in the front taking orders, making sandwiches and operating the till and expected to complete each customer's order in two minutes or less. 2-3 employees in the back preparing food while this is happening. There is NO sense of teamwork. The manager told everyone that we needed to stop putting so many veggies on the sandwiches, because she "couldn't afford it" with the sales they had going on ($5 footlong, etc). At one point the manager came up to me in front of a customer and rudely told me that I was putting on too much lettuce. This is no surprise considering managers get bonuses if they limit the veggies/meats they put on sandwiches. In other locations, I witnessed (as a customer) managers making their employees cry, and lone employees during the busiest parts of the day.
